Silas Motse is an Afro-centric Avant Guard artist born and bred in Thabanchu, in the Free State. He uses portraiture and mixed media to portray his concepts. He went to study Fine Arts in Bloemfontein at the Central University of Technology.

He has worked as a private and high school educator and now is a full-time artist. Moving forward, he aims to continue teaching through his art to enlighten people about Africa and its lost histories, specifically, Rastafarianism. He seeks to break the barriers that keep people from learning about and interacting with the culture and religion of Rastafarianism.
