Art as a Catalyst for Change: IPAF 2024 set to Unveil Thought-Provoking Placemaking Projects in Cape Town

We are gearing up to host the 8th edition of the International Public Art Festival from 14 -18 February 2024. The possibilities feel endless with this year’s theme of CoAct | CoLLab, inspiring connection through communal action and creative alliance. The heart of the festival will be an immersive public art experience on the lawns of the Company’s Garden; with public art projects emanating all across Cape Town CBD.

Every year the streets of Cape Town become a canvas for public art, placemaking and community engagement and we’re looking forward to unveiling the next installment of this journey. With Baz-Art’s founder, creative director and curator Melissa Cucci at the helm, the festival will partner key experts from different creative spheres to produce unprecedented public art collaborations. Innovative large scale public art and placemaking will be a platform to strengthen ties, connect communities and create new alliances.

IPAF 2024 will transform the city with 5 days of public art, street art murals, street tours, pop-ups and more.

IPAF 2023 broke the boundaries of the kind of street art we’ve showcased before. With installations, sculptures, digital artworks and performances, we redefined what we consider ‘street art’. With this momentum IPAF 2024 will continue to produce public art projects that reflect and revitalize the city landscape, with placemaking central to our creative ethos. Using art to create shared public spaces that provide value to the community, placemaking has the potential to make spaces safer by encouraging social interaction and economic development in the surrounding areas. Over the years, IPAF has not only changed the aesthetic landscape of the city, but how the public interact with these communal spaces. From job creation and stimulating tourism to celebrating shared heritage through storytelling, IPAF has played catalyst and witness to how public art can spark social change.

WE CREATE ENGAGEMENT AND MARKETING CONTENT THROUGH URBAN ART.

Whether you want to create marketing content to convey a specific message to your customers, launch a new product or service, or beautify the workplace, we are here to help by creating custom murals for the specific purpose of your individual brand-related outdoor or indoor media and marketing campaigns.

Our carefully curated large-scale artworks give you attention-grabbing imagery. Our public positioning allows for an extensive audience viewing.

By combining public art with digital marketing, we achieve public and private interaction. This way, you can reach your current clients and attract new ones. Our targeted marketing campaigns allow us to maximise your visibility through the press and social media.

OUR SOCIAL IMPACT

We believe in the incorporation, education and development of art in all of South Africa. We aim to harness the power and creativity of art to improve people’s lives in many different ways.

Street art tours, artist development programs or art classes, and other projects, are just a few of the ways we share our knowledge and love of art.

By using art as a tool to generate conversation and education, we allow people to learn in enjoyable and safe environments.

We believe that art participation and enjoyment is for the masses and not a select few.

That is why our annual International Public Art Festival is open to the public to show how murals can express a community’s values, enhance an environment, heighten our awareness or challenge our assumptions.
