The piece is called “UMOYA weAFRICA" meaning The African Spirit in isiZulu. “Inspired by my envisioned transformation of Africa as a whole, using "What if" as a starting point to the visual dialogue,” says vonMash. The artwork was inspired by everything that has been taken from us as Africans, including our identity and history. It is also inspired by the unbreakable African Spirit. It is a mixed media mural that includes painting, digital art, wheat-pasting, 3D modeling, augmented reality, and AI. The piece's intention and overall feeling embody the "AFRIDELIC" style, and are inspired by the theory of duality and a shared optimistic perspective of Africa and the diaspora. This artwork is a collaboration with Digital Artist, Xopher Wallace, who produced an Augmented Reality layer that compliments the mural.
