"Hands of the Divine" is an interactive mural depicting two hands in prayer, in receiving, holding a pool of water. I chose to explore the IPAF 2022 theme of "Humanity" through prayer.
Connecting to our own divinity, however we choose, connects us to our inner humanity so that we may reach outwards, openly to others. The water can represent many facets, namely life force energy, clarity and value. The title is a play on words. "Hands" meaning styles or individual samples of writing, or signatures. Alluding to the interactive aspect of the mural.
There is a see-through box attached to the wall in which the public can post their unique, handwritten prayers or wishes. The prayers are private and will not be read - if the box ever reaches capacity, the papers will be dissolved in water. The idea was to create a sort of sacred site where one could take a quiet moment to reflect in juxtaposition to a busy street, in a busy city, in a busy world. The interactive aspect is not religiously charged and is intended for people from all walks of life to engage with it.
