Pule Magopa is a mural artist, fine artist and traditional healer currently based in Cape Town. Born and raised around Joburg, and being taught how to do graffiti from the age of 12, Pule has always been involved in the local art scene. He has a strong understanding of the subculture of graffiti and is intrigued by the ancient connection of rock art - leading him to explore this further through the creation of murals.
Within Pule’s art practice, much of his work revolves around ancestry and the symptoms that affected him as a youth before being initiated. Pule celebrates Orthodox African Practices in his work, while also questioning society's opinion or notions on the subject.
In Pule’s own words, “My objective is to question, express and address all that I stand for in my contribution to the practice and by doing so I use art as a tool to engage many who understand (as well as lack understanding of) the belief system of ancestry”.
