Gareth Humphreys is a self-taught South African artist with a flair for the hyper-realistic. His influences are as broad as his travels and include everything from chrome skull reflections on the streets of Paris to the local faces of Long street in Cape Town. In addition to his time behind the easel he has filled the role of creative director for the internationally acclaimed Kilifi New Year's Eve festival in Kenya and he has spent many seasons decorating the walls of Amsterdam and Paris’ finest hostels with larger than life murals. Currently, at home in Cape Town, he is focussing on original paintings combining hyper-realistic detail with a bit of funk.
