Attention all creatives in Cape Town!

We are seeking creative interventions to liven up the streets of our beautiful city for the International Public Art Festival and beyond. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, we welcome your submissions.

We are looking for submissions that are visually striking, thought-provoking, and respectful of the community and environment. These submissions can be in any medium, such as busking, sculptures, interventions, or community workshops.

The Festival theme is “What if?”, and we encourage work that explores this question and focused on ideas such as public participation, social commentary, or simply adding beauty to an otherwise mundane space.

The interventions should be small in scale and where possible, should not require any special permissions or permits. We encourage artists to consider how to activate interesting and overlooked public spaces.

The Festival will take place in public spaces across Cape Town’s CBD and Company’s Garden from 1-5 March 2023.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with! Let’s make Cape Town’s streets a vibrant and exciting place for everyone.

Please note that we are taking submissions from Cape Town based artists only at this time.

DEADLINE for submission: 20 January 2023

Please note that we have a limited number of spaces available, and we are looking for small but effective and playful interventions with budgets ranging from R1000-R20 000

Organised by Baz-Art

  1. Good afternoon BAZ ART,

I have an idea but I’m not sure if it will be relevant for what you are looking for.

I dream of beautiful Art work around Bellville train station that inspires Hope to the street dwellers around that space as well as people that walk the there going to work in the mornings and evenings.

That’s space is too dall for me it needs a vibrant art work that will inspire many as I have mentioned. However you spoke about permit and all of which Im not sure if we will need one from the municipality or Prasa.

I run an NPO and I often go to that area to share meals with the homeless.

Also based on what I wrote above is my Idea what you are looking for? Should I apply?

    Best Regards,

  2. I would like to enter a stand where the community can paint their own vision board A5 or smaller, What if….. we inspire and make everyone believe there is an Artist inside you, no matter who you are or how old you are… What if you can be an artist? What if you can make the difference you want to see

  3. Good day to everyone, this seems very interesting to my creative senses. I would like to engage with the vision bearers to hear more about this move.

I am visual artist by profession l spent most of my career on Art Education facilitating art workshops in communities around Cape Town.

  4. I’m from Brazil my dream is to participate in this festival I’m very interested. I would like to know if it really is only for Cape artists that registration is open.

    thanks!
