More and more governments are waking up to the value of making strong commitments to invest in the creative economy. Unlike before when creativity was seen as a “nice-to-have”; decision-makers are seeing the creative sector as an engine of innovation, technological change, and economic growth in these challenging times. We intend to be at the forefront of this movement where artists and corporations win through these types of collaborations.

A recent example of a collaboration we embarked on to realise the vision of one of our artists was our Creative Art Fair. It took place at Art on Main and Fox Street – an artsy district that has distinguished itself as a melting pot filled to the brim with African subcultures, exciting cuisine, and unique retail experiences. The turnout was fantastic, many visitors enjoyed the various artistic interventions which boosted the creative businesses in the area.

Downtown Jozi was abuzz with live graffiti art showcases, pedestrian lane art exhibitions, creative workshops, and an all-time favourite: a colour run! The festivities were a snippet into our daily business: connecting creatives to economic opportunities through their strong partnerships with local and international brands.

Cerbastian Davids (long-standing artistic partner) said “The Creative Art Fair was an amazing experience for me: it was delightful to see how the Jozi community at large came out to support the artist community. The colour run that engulfed Fox street felt like we were all in a real-life colouring book!”

The general consensus from the event was that there is a need for more of these types of events especially bearing in mind how negatively the lockdowns of the past 2 years impacted creatives in the city and beyond. We’re committed to marshalling our networks in linking artists to income-generation opportunities; with the Creative Art Fair being one of the many first steps we’ve taken in the direction to showcase South Africa’s talent of street artists to the world.

It doesn’t end with murals, we’re a multidisciplinary creative partner that’s eager to explore different artistic concepts of art that extends beyond murals. Art transcends industries and the impact it has on these industries benefits the creative economy in many ways.
