A unique cultural experience in cape Town based on the buzzing and growing popularity of street art.
Although Salt River boasts some iconic street art from 20 years ago, the majority of the painted walls stem from the International Public Art Festival, hosted in and around Salt River every year. Artists from South Africa and around the world adorned the facades of over 123 buildings in an extraordinary display of artistic self-expression and empowering messaging.
While artist are busy painting, take a tour and experience the process of murals in progress, the more than one hundreds murals that have already been painted, as well as and public artworks and their history in the various part of Salt River – Woodstock – East City District – CBD – Waterfront all the way to Sea Point.
Your guide will pick up your group from
Salt River Arcade, Baz’Art, 374 Albert Road
at the time of your choice between 8:00 and 10:00 AM.
Hat, mask and sunscreen, you will find water and snacks* on the way.
* Some of the local shops don't take cards, so bring a bit of cash along for your on-tour purchases.
You can not only expect visual delight but also to be taken on a journey of interpretation and deep meaning behind each piece as well as an immersion into the unique cultural history of the Salt River and Cape Malay community.
