SilasMotse is an Afro-centric Avant Guardartist who was born and bred in Thabanchu, in the Free State. When he lefthigh school, he went to study Fine Arts in Bloemfontein, at the CentralUniversity of Technology. After struggling to get his art career off the groundfor a few years, he turned to his other passion, education. Currently he isworking as an educator in Eldorado Park, teaching Business Studies.Unfortunately, most schools do not value art as a subject/career prospect, especially in our black communities. However, he took this platform as aneducator and used it to start teaching private art classes for those learnerswho were looking for a way to express themselves and show their hidden talents.Moving forward, he aims to continue teaching through his art for the purpose ofenlightening people about Africa and its lost histories, specifically,Rastafarianism. He aims to break the barriers that keep people from learningabout, and interacting with, the culture and religion of Rastafarianism. Hisdeep connection to Rastafarianism began when he was a child and struggled withthe loss of his parents at a young age. With all the struggles he facedfollowing that experience, he developed deep anger issues which required him tofind internal peace and acceptance. Rastafarianism and the music, helped himfind that.
